I watched Dr. Greger’s new video on the daily dose of Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin). The entire five video series was 29 minutes and 34 seconds. I have summarized these videos, so busy people like you don’t have do!
As a result, Dr. Greger has lowered his recommendation for B12 supplementation to 50 mcg daily for adults. He also stated that If you are over 65 years old, the recommended dose is 1000 mcg/day. Children aged 6 months to 3 years should take 5 mcg/day and children from 4 to 10 years old should take 25 mcg/day. I also recommend that the following groups should take Vitamin B12 supplements: over the age of 50, on strong acid blocking medications, taking metformin and have Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
