Naturally Lowering Blood Pressure without Medications
Updated: Mar 19, 2020
I just finished watching a great video by Dr. Michael Greger. He has reviewed how lifestyle can lower systolic blood pressure. Systolic blood pressure is the higher number or the number on top. Hg means mercury, which is what blood pressure is measured in.
Alcohol restriction......................................................................5 mm Hg
Losing 10 lbs of weight..............................................................7 mm Hg
Eating the recommended servings of fruit and vegetables*......7 mm Hg
Aerobic exercise for 3 months...................................................9 mm Hg
Medications reducing blood pressure......................................15 mm Hg
Restricting salt.........................................................................16 mm Hg
Plant-Based Diet......................................................................18 mm Hg
Water-Fasting and Plant-Based Diet.......................................37 mm Hg
* I checked the USDA page. The recommended servings of fruit is 1-2 cups daily. The recommended servings of vegetables is 1 and 3 cups each day.
Again, I need to remind you that you need to work with a qualified health care professional because implementing these lifestyle changes may cause your blood pressure to become too low. Your medications may need to be reduced or eliminated. The drug interactions that are currently happening will need to be reassessed.
Water-Fasting is a technique that needs to be monitored closely. Usually, people go to a lifestyle intensive retreat for a week or two and are constantly assessed by a health care professional.
However, if you are motivated, you have options to treat your high blood pressure besides medications.
