Atherosclerosis has Two Components
I listened to Dr. Paul M. Ridker, who spoke at the 7th International Conference of Nutrition and Medicine that occurred July 26th-27th, 2019. This is the Conference that the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine initiates. He mentioned that Harvard Medical Students are being taught that atherosclerosis is a disease of lipid accumulation and inflammatory processes.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation states that, "Atherosclerosis occurs when your arteries become clogged with fatty deposits (plaque), causing them to lose their elasticity and become narrower. (accessed their website today) They also mentioned, it is sometimes called hardening of the arteries.
Inflammatory processes can be reduced by lifestyle changes, such as the whole-food plant-based diet, exercise and smoking cessation. Please share this post if you know of a love one who has atherosclerosis. It can save their life!
